Component Materials
Materials used in our slip ring components are carefully selected to match the requirements of the intended application, including operating environment. DNI specializes in low-voltage/current applications, where precious metals are often used for superior conductivity and resistance to corrosion. Key materials include:
Precious Metal Alloys – Paliney 7, Paliney 25, Paliney 2000, Neyoro G, and Ney 75 from DNI are commonly used to make slip rings and brushes. These materials provide excellent conductivity, low contact resistance, corrosion resistance, and exceptional wear performance.
Bimetallic Solutions – for more economical and less demanding solutions, brushes can utilize a non-precious base material as the spring member with precious metal only in the contact area, reducing the cost of the component.
Plated Rings – Base-metal (for example, copper alloy) rings are usually plated with silver or gold to enhance conductivity, durability, and corrosion resistance.
